In Makurdi, the Benue State capital, a mob has set an alleged motorcycle thief ablaze.
Todays loaded learned that the victim stole a commercial motorcycle in the High Level area at gunpoint and was getting away with it when the bike owner raised the alarm and he was pursued by residents.

The residents caught up with him and a mob soon closed in. They tied up his hands, poured petrol on him and set him on fire.
Police spokeswoman DSP Kate Anene confirmed the incident, but warned the people to desist from jungle justice. At press time his body was still at the scene of the incident.
