COVID-19: Ogun State Confirms Eight New Cases

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, reported on Wednesday that coronavirus cases in the state have risen from 12 to 20.

He said the State now has eight new cases.

Newsmen announced on Sunday that the state stated that it has 12 COVID-19 incidents, six of which have been discharged, it added.

On Tuesday, the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said Ogun has recorded another three new cases.

Meanwhile, there was confusion when the NCDC said Ogun now has 20 confirmed cases as residents sought to know how it arrived at the figure, which they thought should be 15.

Making the clarification, Gov Abiodun in a statement this morning said the NCDC transferred five cases from Lagos State to Ogun.

He said the five cases were earlier reported in Lagos State, saying Ogun now has eight new confirmed cases.

“As at 11:25 pm, 21st April 2020, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, @NCDCgov announced 3 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ogun State.

“However, following this disclosure, the NCDC again announced the transfer of 5 more confirmed cases previously reported in Lagos State to Ogun.

“This translates to 8 new confirmed cases in Ogun State.

“Currently, the State has a total of 20 confirmed cases, having discharged 6, with 14 cases active at the moment,” Gov Abiodun clarified.
