Governor Akeredolu, My Deputy Betray Me Despite Paying Him N13m Monthly.

Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu opened up about his frosty relationship with his deputy, Agboola Ajayi, who pressured the latter to leave the All Progressive Congress ( APC) for the Democratic People’s Party (PDP) in order to contest the state’s upcoming governorship election.

KanyiDailh recalls that Ajayi later defected to the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) after failing to secure the PDP ticket for the October 10 governorship election in Ondo.

Speaking while being featured on a Radio personality programme in Akure, Governor Akeredolu said he gave his deputy “wide room to operate but he later betrayed me by wanting to unseat me despite making him the highest paid deputy governor in the country.

“l ensured that Ajayi was well paid in order to make him comfortable in office despite all warnings from different quarters that he should not entrust Ajayi with power”.

“Agboola (Ajayi) does not want to wait for his time. I made him comfortable, I asked him to represent me in so many places but some people were warning me, I said they should leave him alone.

“No deputy governor has collected what he was collecting in the history of the state. I gave him N13million monthly, his predecessors did not collect as much as that.

“No deputy governor collects as much as that in Nigeria. I gave him enough room to operate yet he betrayed me .”

Nevertheless, the governor said that he was prepared to forgive all his critics, adding that, as a Christian, he would not insult anybody.

I killed My Aunt, She Is A Witch – Man Confesses In Ogun, A 23-year-old man identified as Dandu Asogba has killed his aunt, Iyabo Danso, 60 after he accused her of being a witch.

In a statement on Saturday, Ogun State Police Spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspect was arrested at the Ipokia Divisional Police Headquarters following a complaint by two of the victim’s children.

According to Oyeyemi, the children had reported that they were informed on August 22 that their mother, who was not suffering from any illness had died.

Oyeyemi hinted that the children of the deceased “stated further that since they were not suspecting any foul play, they decided to bury her without necessarily reporting to the police.

“But immediately after the burial, they heard information that the suspect, who is a nephew to the deceased was seen in her house on that fateful day, and shortly after he left, the woman was declared dead.”

This, he said, intensified residents’ suspicion as they threatened to perform a traditional ritual to disclose the murderer. I killed My Aunt

Hearing the community ‘s resolve to go spiritually about the woman’s death, Asogba allegedly came out to admit being the one responsible for her death.

It was said that the DPO Ipokia Division, SP Adebayo Hakeem, had detailed the scene where the suspect was arrested by his men.

“On interrogation, he admitted killing the deceased, but claimed that he did so because of his belief that the deceased was responsible for the death of his first child and the subsequent miscarriage suffered by his wife.

“He confessed further that it was an iron rod he used to hit the woman on the neck which resulted to her death,” Oyeyemi said.

In the meantime, the Ogun Police Commissioner, Edward Ajogun, ordered that the case will be transferred for further investigation to the homicide section of the State CIID.

The debt office clarified that the rise of N2.381trn or $6.593bn in debt stock was accounted for by the International Monetary Fund’s $3.36bn budget support loan, a new domestic borrowing to finance the updated 2020 Appropriation Act.

It said this included issuing the N162.557bn Sukuk, and promissory notes issued to resolve exporter claims.

The debt office said, Nigeria Owe N31 Trillion

“The DMO expects the public debt stock to grow as the balance of the new domestic borrowing is raised and expected disbursements are made by the World Bank, African Development Bank and the Islamic Development Bank which were arranged to finance the 2020 Budget.

“Recall that the 2020 Appropriation Act had to be revised in the face of the adverse and severe impact of COVID-19 on government’s revenues and increased expenditure needs on health and economic stimulus, among others.”

It stated that additional promissory notes were expected to be issued in the course of the year.

This, it said, and new borrowings by state governments, were also expected to increase the public debt stock.

Buhari Talks About Going Back On Petrol, Tariff Hike

Buhari On Fuel Price. President Muhammadu Buhari maintained that his decision to raise the country’s tariff hike would not be reversed, as it would have detrimental repercussions if the government were to subsidize the fuel and electricity prices.

Buhari announced this on Monday, September 7 , 2020, at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, at the First Year Ministerial Performance Assessment Retreat.

He said unfortunately, government could not revert to its decision to deregulate the petroleum sector and allow the international demand and supply powers to determine the Premium Motor Spirit prices.

The president, who was represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, said the COVID-19 pandemic, had led to a severe downturn in the funds available to finance its budget and had severely hampered government’s capacity to deliver.

He added that one of the steps taken at the beginning of the crisis in March when oil prices collapsed at the height of the global lockdown, was the deregulation of the price of premium motor spirit (PMS) such that the benefit of lower prices at that time was passed to consumers. “This was welcome by all and sundry.

The effect of deregulation though is that PMS prices will change with changes in global oil prices. Buhari On Fuel Price

“This means very regrettably that we would see some rises in PMS prices as oil prices rebound. This is what has now happened. As global prices increase, it meant that petrol prices will also increase locally, “he said.

According to Buhari, if government could even try to go back to the business of setting or subsidizing PMS prices there were some negative implications. He also reported that the federal government invested about N1.7 trillion on supplementing shortfalls in the electricity tariff in a bid to keep the sector alive.

The President explained that the problems associated with the power sector privatization exercise informed the decision of government to keep supporting the largely privatised electricity industry.

The president said those who got less than 12 hours supply, or the Band D and E Customers must be maintained on lifeline tariffs, meaning that they would experience no increase, stressing that this is the largest group of customers.

He explained that government had also taken notice of the complaints about arbitrary estimated billing.

Naija News recalls that the recent fuel price increase on   2, 2020, following the removal of subsidy on petrol in Nigeria, has continued to generate outrage among stakeholders.

Femi Falana a well respected human right activist in his reaction in a recent article called the decision a deliberate effort to exploit the season.
Speaking via a recent article the respected lawyer also accused the president Muhammadu Buhari of deceiving the public.
Falana stated that only President Buhari is empowered by law to fix fuel Price.
